Board Approves Lead Policy

Hondius Water Users Association, Inc. Policy re: Possible Lead Service Lines

The Hondius Water Users Association, Inc. (Hondius) is classified by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment as a Transient Non-Community water system and as such is not subject to the requirements of the U.S. Environment Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule.  While Hondius has no requirement to determine the composition of water service lines connected to the Hondius water system, given the age of the Hondius system, Hondius recognizes that there is a possibility of lead being a component of some members’ service lines and, accordingly, has established the following policy:

In the event that Hondius determines or becomes aware that any members’ service line is composed of lead, the service line, including any galvanized portion connected thereto, will be required to be replaced by such members in order for such members to continue to obtain water service from Hondius.
