Welcome to the Hondius Water Users site.

The Hondius Water system was engineered and constructed by Pieter Hondius, Sr., and has served as the primary water supply to the High Drive area since 1907.

The system is primarily a summer system because the main line, and the individually owned service lines which feed from the main line were originally dug to a depth of only 1-2 feet, which is not adequate to supply winter water service.

In 1996, when Rocky Mountain National Park no longer allowed Hondius to acquire its water from a source in the Park, a portion of the lower end of the system was connected to Town water. This portion can supply winter water to property owners in that area, while the upper end of the system is shut down for the winter.
