Results of Public Meeting

A public meeting of Hondius water users was held on October 2, 2015 at the Park Village Theatre at 900 Moraine Ave. to discuss the results of the preliminary engineering study for the project to replace the Hondius water line. Additionally, owners not currently on the Hondius system, but in the vicinity of the new system main lines, were invited to the meeting. The preliminary estimated cost for the system was provided by the engineer.

Other matters discussed at the meeting include that those currently not using the Hondius system may be able to join in the project. This will depend on how the Local Improvement District is defined, which is currently under review by Larimer County. If those currently not using the Hondius system elect to join, they would likely be required by the Town to pay a tap fee.

The preliminary design of the replacement system would bring main lines much closer to many of the current Hondius users in an effort to eliminate long service lines that are currently in place, and eliminate shared service lines that would not be allowed by the Town. New service lines will be the responsibility of the homeowner, but these can be put in at the same time as the main project occurs at a depth sufficient to provide winter water. The estimated cost if going through rock (i.e. high end estimate) is $55/ft. This will be a one-time cost.

There were approximately 40-50 people in attendance at the meeting, and at the end of the meeting a vote was held to determine interest in moving forward. The vast majority of those in attendance raised their hands in favor of moving forward. No one raised their hand to indicate they were not in favor of moving forward.
