10/13/16 – Update

Hi all,

I just wanted to bring you up to date on a couple of matters.  As a reminder, at our August 1st meeting, we held an annual meeting of the Hondius Water Users Association and elected 5 directors, and since that time the Directors have met and approved the following officer roles for the directors – Don Piepgras, President; Beth Coulson, Vice-President; Sydney White, Treasurer; Bill Rawsky, Secretary; and Jim Redman, at large.  The HWUA will be taking the lead now with respect to the water project and we will discontinue the previous committee (thanks to Tim Breiding, Tony and Vi Burroughs, Brandy Flanagan, and Thurmond Williamson and Ernie Deidrich for your contributions to that group).

We have received signed petitions from 50 Hondius users (out of a total of approximately 78 – THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!) and 4 Non-Hondius Users.  As a result, the Town Trustees unanimously approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Town and the HWUA to move forward with the project to replace the system, which was discussed in the public of the August 1st meeting.

The Town is reviewing the preliminary engineering report in anticipation of submitting to the USDA for their approval and financing.  I am not sure how long this process will take, but we are working through it.

All for now.

Jim
